Any continuous wheat growers out there? What breed are you finding is the best for 3rd + wheats?
Run out of options for rotations, osr kaput, linseed seems a no no especially up here on clay, spring crops Ha Ha Ha,this year has shown once again the feutility of them here.šŸ˜ž

Iā€™ve got two fields that have been in wheat for 8/9 yrs. JB Diego did well , changed to Gleam this year, which looks ok considering the awful conditions itā€™s endured.

Gleam has impressed with it's ability to battle out of the ground in a crap year. It did 'OK' in comparison to everything else last year but this year I have higher hopes for it. First wheat slot though.

What a difference two years makes . Same field of continuous wheat in 2018, Diego being combined in July , compared to this years Gleam , looking a bit sorry for itself in first pic

Grew JB Diago for many years,is it still available?
It's still readily available as far as I'm aware.

All my wheat is diago again this year, that's 1st,2nd,3rd and continuous. With the weather being so dodgy I didnt bother buying any seed incase it didnt get sown and just kept digging it off the heap.
Diago has got a weakness to rust but no worse than some of the others still on the RL and I can keep it clean with cheap chemistry.
I normally us only one SDHI at t2.

Do you, or have you, used Latitude? I just ask as I'm tempted to try a field to see how it goes, as in the past few years my second or even third wheats have done pretty well on the average.

Not directly related but those with continuous wheats, what cultivation policy do you adopt? Got some year 3 wheat this year as Iā€™ve got the seed and donā€™t know what to do plough, or can I get away with less cultivations?

I haven't used any dressings at all for 10 years or so. Chuck plenty of much on it plough it and drill mid oct.
