Hang fire a minute.

They all want to be carbon neutral by 20 whatever. How are they going to do this without sequestration of carbon? as currently the only option they've got is permanent pasture and trees and other plants pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. If the powers that be have any hope of achieving their targets then their going to need agriculture on board either that or bankrupt agriculture to gain access to the land for themselves.

Wetlands and marshes are a significant natural source of methane also......yet all we seem to hear about it slowing watercourses, blocking up ditches and drains, and on Countryfile the RSPB etc making more and more wetlands for wildlife.

Should we be taxing wetland creation perhaps?

I'm quite pleased with the methane coverage as it is highlighting O&G as the main culprit. The rises are clearly not due to cows because herd numbers haven't (as far as I am aware) risen nearly as steeply as methane emissions have, so it's very easy to point at that and say, not us!

It's quite clear an unholy alliance of O&G unwilling to tackle leaking and vegans/vegetarians within the environmental movement had teamed up against cattle but the rest of the world isn't willing to sacrifice their farmers.

We could also put a waste to energy incinerator in every county in the UK and eliminate future landfill methane emissions within the next decade.

I note the words “transforming food systems” with some alarm as this can be taken to mean lab based production systems. Multi billionaires seem to have a penchant for these frakenfoods
