Afternoon all,

I am thinking of busting the bank account soon we have lits of nut and bolt jobs coming up and i am sick to death of hearing a compressor run, also a fair few jobs are away from the workshop so i have been lookiing at the options i am sure this has been discussed before but i cant find the dam thread,

I think i have narrowed it down to this one

https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product...953-1-2In-High-Torque-Impact-Wrench-2-X-5.0Ah

Does anyone have any experiance of this tool or a better one to get?

Do you have the Milwaukee system already?
I'm not saying there not good, plenty rate them, but they are not my bag.
We've got the Makita 18v system, the range of tools is amazing, and I think good value.
I've just got the Makita 18v 3/4" drive wrench, it's an animal! Has higher torques than the Milwaukee on paper. Went for it in 3/4"as we also have the smaller, more compact model, in 1/2". So made sense to have the larger gun in 3/4", possibly if I only had the one it would be the bigger gun in 1/2"?

To be honest got a right mismatch of kit we have Bosch cordless stuff with 4ah batteries but their impact gun looked tiny and gutless

Also have a makitta cordless drill gut its never done anything as it was a screwfix special and we only bought it for the batteries and charger for our Makkitta radio! They are only 1.5ah so I would need better batteries for impact gun i will have a look at makitta though.

Size wise it will be used for some tractor jibs but one of the bug jobs this year is a chasssis up land rover build so i think 1/2" drive may be more sensible than 3/4"

You could get the 3/4 with a pair of 5ha batts, and get the smaller 1/2 more compact gun in body only(y)........feed the tool addiction :)

Do you have aany web links to the specific models you have? Some of the makita guns loom a little weedy.

I dont need much encouragement to buy tools lol!

Not sure how I link stuff? I will have a go later possibly.

But I've got the DTW1001 3/4" driver ,bought as a bare unit, available as a kit with two 5ah batts.
I've got a smaller one that is a DTW251 , I think, again bought bare. It's small but still packs a pipunch, and if you've hit the bigger gun as well I think it's a nice size for the smaller jobs. But if buying again I definitely go for the Brushless one, DTW281 I think, they do a DTW285 which is similar but made specifically for scaffolders, so be careful when buying. The 281 is physically even smaller than the one I've got, but I'd have no doubt about its performance, those brushless tools are amazing:cool:

Snap on ones are only 12 mouths warranty 5/6 years ago they were as good as you could buy but they have been left behind. But saying that my snap on one has done a lot of work and is the still going well at 6 years old. It went through a bunning spreader last year with a load of muck and only got a good scratch one the side. When it does give up I think it will be a dewalt as that's what all my other kit is.

FFX had the same milwaukee one in your link for about £343 inc vat a few weeks ago, I got one then and it's brilliant. About twice as much power as my old snap on one.

I went for Metabo, along with most people round here (there's a very good dealer near here).
They don't do the really high powered impact guns (yet!) but I'm very happy with the performance of the 600Nm gun I've got, and the 5" grinder.
