Can I ask why? I've never had any experience with itWe do all of our own work, don't use a contractor for anything, but if we give anything up it will be spreading with umbilical, it really is a sh!t job and I'd quite happily pay someone else to do it
Interesting, what don't you like about it? Years ago now but I used to do it every day for most of the year and found it a fairly cruisy and a clean job when you get the hang of it. Quite satisfying too when you cover everything with no misses and no mess.We do all of our own work, don't use a contractor for anything, but if we give anything up it will be spreading with umbilical, it really is a sh!t job and I'd quite happily pay someone else to do it
I’m sad but I really enjoy doing itCan I ask why? I've never had any experience with it
You should get your cows out earlier and save a bob.£60000 here for 5inch and 4 inch pipe and 12mtr dribblebar
Pump is going to be a all singing all dancing one for another £50/60000
Was just about to say when I priced up pipe it was only slightly more to put in a permanent main, would make doing your own very simple if all you needed was a front bobbin with a couple pipes and a dribble bar on the back. Make life very simpleAny chance of digging in some 6 inch pipes with taps on stand pipes to set up and pump easier
From memory 4inch is around 250psi and then it goes down as the size of the pipe increases. That’s working pressure I think burst pressures are generally higher. If you do fit a main make sure you put a small amount of concrete on the joints where it changes direction and it will never let you down. Cost of fertiliser will soon pay for hiring a digger and laying the pipe. Can put them under roads as well to access more land if neededJust had a quick scan, what @Grassman247 says is smack on. Some plastic pipe available to take up to 4000psi, what are umbilical pipes rated at?
I wouldn’t fit taps as the frost tends to break them a simple screw on storz cap is best. Got Bauer caps on mine and the cows play with them and undo them making a right mess when you go pumping againAny chance of digging in some 6 inch pipes with taps on stand pipes to set up and pump easier
make sure you do the sums before you do that, we have our own kit and costs of running it are less than half what I saw someone on here quote per cubic metre of slurry spreadWe do all of our own work, don't use a contractor for anything, but if we give anything up it will be spreading with umbilical, it really is a sh!t job and I'd quite happily pay someone else to do it
Did you use MDPE pipe or ABS/PVC?From memory 4inch is around 250psi and then it goes down as the size of the pipe increases. That’s working pressure I think burst pressures are generally higher. We used Upvc but I think there are other/better options now, MPDE with fusion joints or there’s something called rhino pipe which I saw in NZ which just pushes together no need for glue or jointing machinesDid you use MDPE pipe or ABS/PVC?
Ps included road crossing system ( ramps on road)
