He will pick up a bit after 4 or 5 days oxygen. Our 8 year old was in the hospital for 10 days and is slowly getting better but very dull.

Hope he's feeling more comfortable, @jendan . Mycoplasma pneumonia is probably the culprit, reported across the world. It's opportunistic as a secondary infection. Covid has hammered a lot of the under 18s. There's no consensus in recommendations for a covid booster jab for them, so where they aren't being invited for a yearly jab, they're getting repeated infections of different variants of SARS-CoV2. I have a nephew who had his second bout of covid in 12 months last month. Not like him at all to be off school, but he was a week off and still feeling fragile when he went back. His last jab was in 2021.

It’s ripped through us, I’ve been off 18 days with it, wife and 2 daughters in there 20’s also badly effected. It’s taking all our energy to look after the dogs and newly born pups.
Never felt this rough for this long before, 1st time we’ve had Covid

In bed Christmas Eve all day and on the couch Christmas Day. Had a cough for 2 or 3 weeks before Christmas and had an antibiotic but it didn’t sort it. Was at doctors yesterday and he said I’ve bronchitis. Feel week as water. Not had covid never had any jabs. They wouldn’t make any difference anyway. It’s brutal

I've been ill for over a month. Started hellish runny nose. Then had this cough for 2 weeks now. Caugh so hard I've pulled a rib nearly sick etc. Got no go at all. Just knackered. COVID test come back negative.
Keep testing, it can suddenly change 🫣

Been near two months with it here. O2 Sat below 90%. Can't walk from the house to the cattle sheds without stopping to catch breath and hack. Steroids and inhalers are helping to get through the day. Totally lethargic, knackered tired, but not sleeping well (presumably because of the low o2 sat)

I've farmers lung and my youngest (9yo) has asthma, neither of us can shift whatever it is causing the bronchial irritation

Wife and other two kids (high school age) have recovered from the "cold", but left with tickley dry cough

Don't know how long it stays infectious? I felt too knackered to go out over the festivities, but wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy if I had

My sympathy goes out to those similarly suffering

Yes its contagious, If you are fully vacc'd you should be alright, if not then see a doc.
As someone said earlier this seems to be hammering the youngsters - probably due to vac status, nasty & serious if it gets a proper hold
How many of the folk here suffering this cough aren’t vaccinated?
