Countrywide retail up for sale

I've struggled with CW staff. Last year they had a pile of beef feed troughs by the gate marked special price. I went in and asked for the price - got the answer "A what?". No I didn't want a water trough, a chicken trough or a horse feed bucket. In the end I went back to the gate, took the label off the trough and handed it to the shop assistant. Totally clueless.

Sounds just like our local mole valley store,
Useless!

Recent rumours suggest that Countrywide might have found a buyer for their Retail side of things and announcement likely towards end of this month or early September. Wonder if it's Mole Valley? Anyone heard anything on this?

My friend worked for Countrywide for several years. Her department had the highest sales but 'the management', kept changing, usually people who had no interest in the farming community or stocking what people actually wanted and not what had the highest mark up.
She said when the man that handled all the farmers accounts for many years retired he handed on his list of contacts to the chap taking over in a book, which was basically binned.
The shop floor had no control over the buyers and the managers had no respect for them, as most were young, probably had a degree in business management, looking for their next job and basically looked down on them.
Really they do not deserve to be in business.

Sounds like a certain coop not a million miles from here!
Been in today and shelves severely lacking in ag goods. But lots of cut price christmas sh!t

The local CF /CW store to us used to have the highest turnover per sq ft than any of the bigger premises.
Since the CW takeover, it it rare to find they have something on the shelf that you want to buy. In fact the manager is delighted if he has.

Turnover is down by 40 per cent.

Sadly, MVF has a similar top-down ethos now, and it is unlikely that local managers will be able to supply 'their' customers with goods they have been able to collect ex-shelf in the past.

I suspect it will be a case of buy elsewhere, keep a stock at the farm and never run out.
