Wondering what the ideal width for cubicle spacing is my cows are strong Angus cows suckler bred a good few would in cubicles & looking at them I think there set too narrow . There super comfort loops I have in, no mats though

I think ours are about 3'9" but I'd need to check to be sure. When you see them full near calving you wouldn't want them any tighter. Our cows and heifers all run together and still get an odd heifer tries to turn and gets stuck though 🤦🏻‍♂️

And Y05 learnt from a young age to reverse in and shite at the top of the cubicle, but that's not the cubicle's fault and at least she always sticks to the same one 🤣

I've got Newton Rigg cubicles with cow comfort mats. Set at approx 1.15-1.2m (45-47") spacings (tape measures must have been optional when they were fitted 40yrs ago 😅). My 700-750kg Blonde cows lie in them fine.
My biggest issue is lunge space, beds are only 7' to a wall. I'm putting a run of mushroom cubicles in before winter and I'm putting them in diagonally/herringbone to gain extra lunge space. I'll be putting them at 1.2m spacings.

Our best shed is 3'6". Was designed for incalf heifers but cows lie better there than in the wider cubicles in other shed which are 3'10" to 4' wide. Sand cubicles mind so are comfortable. If I did again I would fit all at narrower spacing. Cows would average 650kg but some fatties pushing 750-800kg in condition score 4.
