Cow sharing

I've got the offer of more cows, more than I want or can afford but we are going to have some of them.
I friend of mine who has being involved in dairying his whole career has suggested he would like to buy one, maybe two, as he's never had cattle of his own. His said if he bought some for his self, he'd like me to have them here and have the milk.
Does anyone have a similar cow share type agreement (although probably a larger scale) that they could share a few details of? I've no problem doing it but I would like us both to have a clear idea of who is responsible for what before we start because I don't want to fall out over something in time.
Thanks.

We did cow leasing in 2002 after F & M and over supply in the organic milk market. Using his cows and his "quota "

So the basics were I paid a rental value on an animal on a monthly basis plus a percentage of the difference between the fall out price and the organic price. So if the uplift in price was 10p I think I paid him 20% so 2ppl.
On the cow side I believe I paided £17.50 a month to rent the cows with me getting the calves, me paying for feed vets etc and him getting the cull value or paying for disposal cost.
This was based on a value IIRC of heifer in at £1400, cull out at £700 after 5 years.

Not sure numbers are 100% but you get my basic idea.

Your approaching it correctly, it's best to be clear from the outset so expectations are known. Saves spoiling a friendship further down the line.
