Crovect for Lice

Got some lambs with Lice (confirmed). Going to Crovect them at tick rate as they're all in full fleece.

Question is, do I need to part the wool to get at their skin or is along the wool sufficient?

Just apply as normal IME

I put it on as normal about november and it didnt work, dysect didnt touch it either so we ended up having to dip everything in the end to get rid of it

I hope I have more luck. The ewes will get dipped but can't have 8 week withdrawal on these lambs.

Luckily alot that where left would need the timw to get fat anyway, so we havnt realy lost out much. We took a chance and didnt do any bigger fitter ones

Are they housed? Are they off dead or lw?

No their not housed. Probably go live.

Be a month yet I'd guess. They can go dead if they look too bad

I never had luck with Crovect for lice I ended up using spot on or the cheapo version

There’s biting lice and sucking lice, Crovect is only any good for biting lice. in our area it is usually biting lice and Crovect ( or Ectofly ) seems to control them. But it has to be a pencil line down the back, a fan spray like for blowfly will not clear them.

I didn't think sucking lice were a problem in the UK? Certain that's what my Vet said when I was checking for scab.

Yes, I've just had a look on SCOPS and you're right. It's just that when I once asked at the merchants for some Crovect they said that it's not effective against sucking lice. They must not have known either
