Crowd Funding

Have`nt got my head round how this works but noticing on social media an aquaintance of ours, Mossgiel dairy in Ayrshire yesterday launched a crowd funding appeal to build a new dairy.
Overnight they have promises of £100,000

I don't understand either, but I believe it works on the concepts of: disposable income, mob mentality, social media hypnotism, and fear of missing out. Oh, and you can brag about your contribution like vegans, etc. do.

Along the top of the page it clearly says -
Don’t invest unless you’re prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong.

Looks like the £100,000 is what people have "pledged" I guess in the cold light of day some may decide not to part with their cash

You have to be someone first. Seen it happen years ago when a well liked and well known farmer crowd funded something for their farm and it worked. Then another farmer tried it and she fell flat on her face, twice. Like Clint Eastwood said, know your limitations.

They have worked hard on social media and beyond to promote themselves and have a unique story. Fair play to them if it comes off, they have had a bumpy ride
