CS application deadline put back. Why!

The new deadline for submitting your application is now 15 September 2023.

This extension is in response to feedback following issues experienced by some customers in making their applications. This ensures that all customers and land agents have ample time to submit their applications for CS agreements to start from 1 January 2024.
I won’t be making an application but received an email from the RPA today from which the above paragraph is copied.
What are the issues that have led to this change I wonder and how does it bode for anyone contemplating risking entering to a SFI agreement?
What spin are the RPA putting on this? Computer problems, lack of interest.
What do you know or surmise?

RPA website has been “down for maintenance” on quite a regular basis for the last month at least, which I assume is to do with getting SFI up and running.

Got ours in this morning glad I did it before seeing the email would have only left it for another month. One thing that surprised me I had to phone them twice this morning and was number 1 in the queue both times, guess the more organised had it done and dusted before today.

Everyone is getting fed up with so many complex schemes now running that they are not bothering to apply for anything!

Another issue that a lot of people have been waiting to see what the SFI was offering before deciding what to do, it is now clear that as it stands it will be a complex nightmare to make both SFI and CSS to work on the ground on farms that try to enter both schemes.

So much overlap with the same options for both schemes but not the same rules for the same options means the whole thing is now a complete mess and seems to be getting worse by the day!

My agent said yesterday that there was big problems with getting mapping changed, and a lot of delays associated with that.

Sent a RL1 in on 19th April for a new field we had bought. Didn`t give it any more though till we realised it wasn`t on our maps & we wanted some new fencing on CS.
Sent an email asking what was happening on the 9th of this month. 2 days ago the field appeared on our map.
No explaination for the delay

they will probably email you in 9 months time to explain the delay!
