Does anyone else get rather tired of reading info on how dire straights the dairy industry is in .its down to producers to decide what system and cost of production they operate at im realy pleased how our cooperative is operating im sure the arla guys are as well.
Totally agree. CUfarms is about positive change. You may ok, but there are many that are not. Working together, it can be possible to help every farm.

Thank you for your kind words, appreciated. A drop in 25% would only give a temporary benefit. Very quickly the situation would reappear. We are creating a system for export opportunities for UK farmers and other ways to reduce the excess, while also optimising domestic production.

Hi Rob - can you confirm CU Farms is setup as a charity?

How many paid up members please?
We have around 20 founder farmers now. They are brave people that want change and create a long term future for the diary industry, one owned 100% by UK farmers. As you can imagine this starts somewhere, and the first is the hardest part. We are expanding this rapidly now and you are very welcome to join us...

The goal is to create a Producer Organisation, which typically has a legal status as an Industrial Provident Society. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_and_provident_society

The answer and role model of the UK soft fruit industry's success is based on the Producer Organisations. Growers got together and improved their product by a wide range of benefits. This crucially has helped smaller producers to stay in production. Demand has been increased and they have avoided commoditization of their industry and grown if 500% in the process. As to this year that industry has had its best year ever, so no idea where the 'gone through the floor' came from? The fundamental benefit of CUfarms is to enable both small and large farmers to thrive. Registered farmers on the web site vary from 100 to 1500 cow operations, every farm registered and is a member has the same voting rights as any other farm, large or small. I would prefer that you use less aggressive language, I have freely given up many hours of time to create this. There is no stunt. Or rip-off. Happliy pick up the phone and I'll explain more 07773777097. Best wishes, Rob

So you've 20 farmers with 400 million litres of milk, so must average 2200 cows apiece (if they are housed 24/7, more if not) and you reckon 20 chaps with 70 apiece are going too have the same clout, I can't see it.

No, I said we have 400 million litres of milk from many farmers that have registered on the CUfarms website, these are not members merely an expression of interest in what we are doing. Paid members are different to farms that have registered an interest. Hope this clears this up?

Sorry for the hard time, you've just got to convince us, how much £ does it cost to become a fully paid up member, and are there any additional costs after the initial joining fee.

We asked the farms in the steering committee to sat what they thought is should be, this cost is to set up the first phase of the organisation. The group decided that the best blend was a fixed price per farm and then a pro rata rate depending on how many cows they have. This helps respect and encourage both large and small farmers: More info HERE: https://www.cufarms.co.uk/become-a-member

Just watched that, sound wasn't that great, from what I could hear (did nodd off once or twice) but can't see how you can achieve what your setting out to achieve, on those membership prices, seem far too low to me, unless you've hellish good take up on it.

for fear of being repeatative the objectives are laudible their implementation doubtful, but credit to their aspirations. Fool that I am after a working life farming I still hope the broader industry will make a concerted effort to develop a united approach to marketing or do you still consider milk buyers do not collude on price!!!!
