People are saying the combi drill will stay straighter if I cultivate the ground at the same angle I drill it. This will mean going with the tramlines and combine wheelings. What are peoples thoughts ? Thanks
We alway cultivate at an angle to help keep fields level. If you run everything the same direction wheeling can get overly compacted and never get leveled off.
If you are cultivating it will level of tramlines etc better running at an angle but with a power Harrow combi it always works better running in same direction
I tended to do min till cultivation passes at about 30 degrees to previous passes. So for example first pass ripping was at tramline angle plus 30 degrees. Second pass angle would be tramlines minus 30 degrees. Then Drill at tramline angle.
If nothing else it made I much easier to see the mark left by the boutmarker when it is was at an angle to the marks left by previous passes.
