Culvert pipe

I'm putting an 18" concrete pipe in a ditch to make a culvert for access into a field. Base of ditch is clay, width of ditch top to top is 8 feet and the top of the pipe is only 1.5 feet from the required finished level of roadway through to the field.
Sides of the pipe have been filled with broken brick/concrete.
Question is what do I finish the topping with to achieve a load bearing surface enough to take up to 6/7 tonnes weight

I've been advised today that crushed limestone wackered down in layers will be enough, but don't know, does'nt seem enough somehow. Don't want to go to the expense of concrete...maybe lift the existing roadway level to 2 feet+ for more cover. Got the pipe from a firm called RS Beaver ltd from near Church Stretton in Shropshire, 01694 751265.

Are you sure that pipe is big enough for the ditch. I would be very wary that your pipe would silt up and create a dam. I normally put in a bundle of 3 pipes strapped together so as the ditch fills up you have clear pipes to take the excess.

Thanks for that....the ditch has 2 existing pipes already without any trouble, the flow is very very slow almost flat fall. I think it will be ok. By the time it wants clearing I shall probably be gone from here !!;)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
