D max brakes

Sorry, should have said. Manual and towing 3.5t occasionally. Mainly runs of 90 miles each way once a week, with a bit of running around country roads and occasional forest tracks. Very little motorway driving! As I said, the first set lasted 24000 miles and it is only since they changed them that I have started having issues. My local garage did the pads last year and i remember him saying he got good quality ones. He is going to have a look in the morning to see what is needed this time.
Get him to check them all

Not uncommon at all as my mate had exactly the same on his D Max auto at around 12k miles the brakes had just worn out and needed pads and discs
Yeah mine needs a set every year, doing about 12k a lot of towing and fully loaded lot of the time though. It’s an auto.

Well my mechanic checked out the pads and discs and said they are good for another few months. Sailed through the MOT no problem. Put the squealing / grinding down to grit that must have found its way in. Relief as towing tomorrow, but still not convinced that there isn't an issue causing premature wear. Funny though that the "worn" bushes that the dealer said needed replacing last summer, didn't even merit an advisory on the MOT. Maybe I'll try a Navara next..... Thanks for all your input!

When I lived darn south I used to do all my own servicing, brake pads would last probably 30,000 miles. Moved up to Shropshire and let a garage do the services. Do a fraction of the mileage I used to do but the pads only last a fraction of the time, have had the linings come away from the pads a few times as well. Don't use LR dealers so I'm assuming they are using pattern parts from a large Shropshire importer.

Ironically I am sitting waiting for my Isuzu to be serviced . Yukon Manual, 86k miles in 2 years, fair bit of towing, owned from new and apart from its first service it has had front pads each service including today , one set of front discs and i set of rear shoes in that time. I have to admit I am fairly hard on brakes but never gone through front pads like this on any other vehicle.

A vehicle that does some motorway use will have much less wear, its possible to do 100 miles and not touch the brakes. Some rear brakes seem to need quick replacement due to their small pad size, older drum types never needed replacement.
