That’s the trouble with the cheese business hell of a lot of money tied up in maturing cheese

I had a tour of a SW cheese company a few years ago. It was a reasonable sized company but small enough that it was the owner that showed us around. He said that they had £5m tied up in maturing cheese at any one time and all of it was borrowed against.

To be fair if they don’t get the creamy of the ground I don’t think there is many other buyers in their area. So doesn’t matter what they will pay you need someone to take the milk

The problem will be the distance involved.Its 140 or so miles back to Glasgow or Dumbarton,takes 3 hours and thats just one way.

Choice of milk buyers though and it will grow grass for fun. But agree it’s a bit pricey

You can always tell if the place is run down or tatty, there is never any photo,s of the inside of the sheds, or a good one is no photo of the parlour, because it’s 50 years old.

They should put effort into providing more photo's then. Surely that is a selling point on a dairy farm, especially when they are asking strong money for it.

I think the planning permission for the barns are a bigger selling point in this instance.

No map of the land and its being split in 10 lots with the main house, barns and 50 acres of land. Screams expensive smallholding rather than commercial farm.

That unit is a ramshackle set up, hard work around the buildings that are tired, sat in a wet “vale” but grass grows well. It’s been let to numerous individuals over the last 10 years and shows it
