today, at Exeter, 1 full dispersal, and 8 other vendors, selling odds after dispersal, or selling as they calve. Good cows made good money, down to some very small fresh ones at £400's. Its difficult to 'judge weight, and size' on marteye, but l would have thought some were near killing price. We had 2.

tested some grass, right stage, looks ideal, but proteins still low, and, sugars, but took them early. It will be off this week though, or it will start to head.

I watched a handful go through I thought they were reasonable.

Not with homeopathy they didn't.
I'm a bit surprised you believe in it. Have a look at what's in their remedies and tell me how it can do anything.
Dad uses their stuff for ringworm, I take the pee out of him but the fact is the bullocks can have ringworm for months and months and as soon as he puts the stuff in the water it dissapears within 2 weeks

Homeopathy doesn't work, study it a little and you'll see it can't work, most of the potions are basically water, although some of these wonder cocktails have been found to contain harmful chemicals when tested.

Why does your old chap wait for months before treating if he knows it will clear it up in 2 weeks?

Its nothing but a very profitable con.

ringworms a funny one, basically its endemic
and, 'apparently' its a seven year cycle, piddles about for 6yrs, explodes on 7th
but you need 'something' to trigger it, years ago, we used to mix a vet only product, with the cake, and cure it, Then someone told dad, minerals would cure it, and they did. Have seen holly hung up in sheds, swearing it works, homeopathic same comments, vaccinated one year, that didn't work.

We rear a lot of calves, and l would agree, with the 7 yr cycle, in so much as every few years it hits hard. Normally, we see a few calves with it, without it being bad, which leads me to think nutrition plays a big role, with minerals, to outbreaks.

We are rearing a number of bought in calves, and several have 'started', along with some of our own, but it doesn't 'develop' into a full blown outbreak, we just see 'patches' start, then slowly disappear. Which leads me to think, that calves growing well, good nutrition, and minerals -tubs, allows them to fight it off.

The last bad outbreak, was bad, the hfrs are coming up for calving a second time, so, year 4, of the cycle, we shall see.

I wish I could find it. I was given a photo by Mr White the Terling herdsman of Terling Meg when I was about 6 or 7. Grandad took me to meet him. He was retired by then but hand wrote her production figures on the back of the photo for me
Do you have any other photos/anecdotes from the Terling And Lavenham herds ? Their page in the old British Friesian Journal was always the first to be looked at.

Dad was allergic to house dust mite. Had tried everything sleeping in plastic bed coverings. Constant hovering of bedding constant taking of medication. Constant streaming nose handkerchiefs everywhere even worse during pollen seasons. This had gone on for years. Lung function was failing. Work was becoming increasingly hard to keep up with. So iin desperation he Spoke to Ainsworths who said they could cure him. And they did. Within 12 hrs of taking the tincture his nose had stopped running and he felt sooo much more alive and hopeful. Symptoms have never returned. Unfortunately his lung function is still slightly compromised but he his still here being brilliant and working a little bit with me every day. He’s 76.

Remember, the Hungarian Doctor who said not hand washing spreads disease, he was pilloried by his peers, as everyone knew diseases were spread by "bad air", so I am not saying the same here, however, there could be more to homeopathy than we currently understand.

Whether or not homeopathic medicine works is irrelevant as long as the desired outcome is achieved. I wouldn’t say I believe in it but twice in my wife’s life she has suffered from constant (weekly) reoccurring issues which lasted 6-12 months which the doctors could not cure and were talking about surgery as a last resort. 6 weeks of homeopathic treatment and was cured never to return.

there's a whole raft of things, modern scientist write off as rubbish, that work, because they don't 'understand' them, or they 'shouldn't' work, that actually do work.
So, its called witchcraft, magic etc, and in previous times, just as now, because no-one could understand why, it was judged magic/witchcraft. The big difference is that now, we don't burn witches.

We don't burn Witches, however, looking at the mass hysteria over Covid/Leaving the EU/Trans phobia etc that society exhibits, I don't think the burning of Witches is far from the surface and wouldn't take much to start again!
