Specifications as standard - it's an 8m drill with bolt on extensions to 9m so can be run as 8 or 9m - power requirement of circa 200hp

RDS Artemis control system capable of variable seed rate on the move, with sensors on fan, metering devices, and low hopper level sensors.

Radar speed sensor

2x electric motor to drive both metering units

4 x metering units

8 Return to Tank Tramliners

4t hopper split for seed and fert

Work carried out included

1. Scrap existing drill chassis and supply new including 4 hydraulic rams for wing folding. Existing axle, 710 Michelin tyres and wheels to be fitted to new chassis. 2. Strip down existing hopper. Put electronics in protective cabinet. Position fan high up to avoid potential collisions with loader. Make adjustments to fixing points to ensure hopper can be mounted to new chassis. Add protective boxes to both electric motors. Attach mounting brackets to platform for Stock Applicator. Shot blast and complete Re-spray / new decals .3. Re-use existing metering units, distribution heads, vertical seed pipes etc, replacing where damaged or faulty.4. Re-use blockage monitor and air/seed pipes, replacing any that are damaged/excessively worn5. Re-use Hydraulic pipe work, replacing where excessively worn etc. adding additional pipe work for new wing folding rams.6. Adjust all lift/lower hydraulic rams to fit new type headstock (fit clevis to rod end, drill out hole in cylinder end)7. Replace all existing parallel bars with new type (folded as on 6m hire drill)8. Go through tine assemblies replacing excessively worn tines & coulters9. Go through Guttler Wheels checking bearings and replacing where damaged.10. Replace all Nylatron wear bushes (at ends of Parallel bars) and check all Connexbushes (in headstocks and A Frames) and replace where necessary.

It's a good drill and has established good wheat and osr crops this year for us, I'm selling simply because I don't think I need it as well as our 750a through a few tweeks to rotation etc

£55,000 which is a saving of £40k for a drill of this size and spec

That didn't last long, what's wrong with it???

Nothing wrong, it's an excellent direct drill, if you want tines I would still say it's by far the best choice there is, just think I can do without it in my system, I'm growing my osr after barley on a seed contract now so removing straw makes disc drilling ok in that situation now. And my other breaks are spring planted after cover crops where the 750a will be the choice, The Dale just won't get the use here to justify keeping it

It really is as new, and used eco drills are rare if not unique ? A genuine bargain for someone

Do you think something like a Techneat spreading in front of rolls with batter boards would work for cover crop establishment? How are you going to do it? P.S. Did Rob Thurkette get hold of you?

It's a techneat that I have to fit to my 12m rolls, idea is it could establish small seed cover crops ahead of the rolls with maybe some rake tines as well and then with rear outlets it could be used for Avadex or slug pellet application. Same hopper and control unit as on my sprayer so making the same bit of kit usable on sprayer, rolls or combine and easy to swap between machines

Larger seed cover crops would go in with drill still

Not heard from Rob Thurkette ?

So are you not going to fit something to the Crosscutter / Carrier type thing for establishing cover crops? Rob was going to ring you about that wiring off your old Lexion.

Carrier is another option but I would prefer not to have the soil disturbance really

I thought you had most options covered with a disc jd and the dale tine drill. Do think that in dd especially the early years its good to have options .

I can see why you're selling this, £55k to put in cover crops is a bit OTT. However, I still think you are nuts for not having a 6m 750, and why don't you get a cheap wide tined drill for CCs? An old CO, or something similar, probably less than £10k.

All options well covers right now as you say but on my light soils in my rotation when you look at the few situations you would choose a tine over a disc it's only a couple of hundred acres a year and a 55k drill is a bit much to keep for that ?

If I sell this I may well upgrade to 6m, a cheap tine drill is a possibility along the lines you suggest for a small area but I can manage without through rotation tweeking
