David Brown 1190 gears

Hi I have a David brown 1190 but changing gears can be a struggle and more often than not I'm stopped before I can change gear. I think it's a synchromesh gearbox and changing up the gear can often end up in gears grinding. Does anyone have an idea?

I will check those things listed. What does the synchromesh mean on the 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't completely understand it. Thanks

There is syncromesh on 2nd and 3rd gear only, should be very smooth to change
If you are referring to having problems with changing either of the short gear levers on the left they have no syncromesh and not designed to change on the move

Thanks for the reply. So if that's the case you should be completely stopped and take off in 2nd gear and move into 3rd. Basically meaning yo shouldn't change from 1st to 2nd on the move? Is that correct. Thanks

You can change to second or third while moving no problems, should be very smooth, you can also change down to first while moving, but not so smooth, and a bit of a crunch perhaps but that is fine

This is where my problem is, it doesn't change smooth and crunches or grinds changing gears but only on the move. It won't crunch or grind when stopped
