Hi all I got an old David brown 1490 that will steer to the right fine but won't steer to the left. Any ideas? I was thinking perhaps the steering ram seals??
Thanks

Mine used to do 4-5 full rotations on the straight road between here and the other farm. Horrible thing. Used it on a front mount hoe as well. 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

The piston inside the ram is only held with two circlips. If one goes, the piston slides along the ram instead of moving it but will work the opposite way . Found out the hard way when ours went straight on at a bend in the road and rolled☹️

There is a steering pump ( round can underneath the alternator) which supplies an “Orbitrol” device under the dash on the left hand side, this is actuated by the steering wheel transmitting power to the steering ram. Could be a problem with the Orbitrol - they are reputedly the work of the devil !
