in winter do have more time to tend to the cows ?
Do find there is more time to foot trim, vaccinations ?We spend 4-5 hrs a day on 350 animals at the mo ( 1 person)
Yeap next week when we start back we will run all cows through the race 20 at a time for I b r booster and the vaccination for scours( sorry forget what it’s called).Do find there is more time to foot trim, vaccinations ?
And catch up on milking parlour maintenanceIts depends, winter time all stock inside so more work feeding bedding etc, but no field work so plenty time to do livestock work. Summer time all stock outside so less time to feed and no bedding but alot more field work. I would say we are quieter during November - February, March & April can be busy with stock still inside and field work to be done. Try and do all the rountine vaccinations, blood testing, freeze branding etc done during November - February.
