DD 3 yrs and out

Another yellow drill gets sold in lincs. 2 out of 3 yrs almost total failure and 1 out of 3 complete failure. In comes a sumo trio and a 6m weaving drill. Soils were right but the crops just don't like it. Nutrient levels are good as well but you can't beat the weather.

The all in one flat lift disc combo's days are numbered, they cause good soil to go anerobic as did parraharrow combos before them while using unsustainable levels of fuel Trying to incorporate wet straw is the perfect situation for slugs and black grass. Note the development of the DTS and versadrill no longer listed. Last year was a exception ! and caused most soils problems but those who wait for soils to dry get the best rewards and bottom lines. as the price of cereals fall away again making many crops established in poor conditions last year showing a deficit before they are harvested.

I wouldn't recommend the claydon at all really. I worked on a farm one summer where I done all the drilling with the Claydon. Following year they changed to a dale and love it!

I would have though there are more Claydon drills being used in uk than all the other makes of direct or no till drills put together. So some people must get on with them.

On my farm it works well on light soil any day you want. Works good in dry condition on the silty soil.

It struggles on the real heavy stuff which has never really dried out enough for it to work properly since I have been using mine. (12 months).

It was the best bit of kit we ever bought.

The way the soil has improved is amazing.

Excellent bean drill, the only thing it didn't seem to work with was linseed into overwintered stubble on some of our ground.
