As above, if rape is drilled (claydon) into a field of chopped straw, do you think it should have a Pre em or

would much of the spray be lost on the residue?

Would the chopped straw stifle the weeds enough between the rows on its own?

What are your thoughts and what do you do?

Have never used a pre em on rape when Claydon drilled as usually grassweeds not broad leaved are the problem, so we use Kerb at a later date. We do, however, use a lot of pre em on second cereals drilled with a Claydon into chopped straw trash. Not really sure if any active is locked up or if you get a light rain whether it is washed off the trash onto soil.

this will be the first year I haven't in many years as clearfield varieties will allow me to use Clearandra
