Got a thwaites 6 ton dumper, thats battery has had it, tried to recondition it, charge it, dont really want to by a new battery because, as its rarely used, will a fast charge, start it, or would this be an ideal job for those "booster packs" you can get, if so what model, type, price etc, from users experience would be a good model to maybe think of buying and ones to avoid? Comments please for me and im sure going into the winter period others would be interested?

New battery and take it off if the machine isn’t going to be used for a while. A decent jump pack will cost a couple of hundred quid I guess and a mains charge&start is a battery killer anyway.

Treat a tractor to a new battery, and put the old one on the dumper. That way you're spending on the busy tractor, not the old wrecker!

OR, what voltage is the battery showing a couple of hours after coming off the charger?
I've been trying the DC welder trick to try and recondition some old batteries. One has a new lease of life, one hasn't been affected, and the third one has been totally wrecked by the experience!
I think the one that recovered held a better voltage from the charger in the first place, 11.5V rather than 10ish volts on the others
