FFS, it's Christmas Eve - take a chill pill and leave things be for tonight at least..

Let everyone enjoy some quality family time.
It's an important time for a lot of folks after this shitter of a year, so please desist and allow people some quality time with their close ones without your constant negative diatribe...

Seasons Greetings

Nope, a good link. Always useful to try to leave the goldfish bowl and look at things from the perspective of other countries viewpoint. If you were to do so, then you might find every most other countries government have watched in disbelief for the past 6 or so years as Britain disengages from EU expecting to find rosy waters elsewhere. Hey ho. fascinating times ahead.

That's a good point, if only other Countries had looked at things from our viewpoint we would never have left. Arrogance is costly.

Ditto, came in once and s*d all had happened; impossible to say if it's any good, yet... from what has been reported the fishing has been kicked down the road in two phases, ag' was settled outside the deal, to the questions are only about what is mutually accepted and governance.

I've got loads to do today and tomorrow is obviously busy, so I guess I'll be studying the 'deal' in the odd spare minutes - if it's been released. (Perhaps they'll be nice and not release it until next week... :unsure:)
Whats the verdict then? Which bits will we be able to wriggle out of,or welsh on over the next few years?

Your verdict on the deal.
Been busy, so haven't read it yet but, if what has been reported is accurate, if...

No problem with fisheries since what has been agreed is as near as damn it what I thought just;

No problem with lack of qualification recognition, companies will still get the people they need / want;

No problem with governance or jurisdiction, more so because the EU restates that UK sovereignty is absolute, which will be very significant over time as the relationship develops;

Pleased with so called 'level playing field' mechanism, because it isn't prejudicial like the EU's 'solution', this means the UK can unilaterally make vehicle standards very high if, for instance, the EU isn't helpful regarding financial services, and it will be a 'shutting the barn door' scenario for them;

A bit sad about travel arrangements, since I've no problem with people visiting for more than 90 days if self-supporting;

Security is a bit odd, since we have by far the best intelligence service and yet they didn't think it worth continuing to share data about minor to mid-level crim's to benefit from it... not worried though, because even my limited knowledge of this field tells me that there is no way in Hell that e.g. a French investigation which finds serious criminality in the UK is not going to inform us about, or vice versa - it would be practically and politically stupid;

Standard conformity is alright, though not great; but I think that mutual 'Trusted Trader' status will see a lot of potential problems done away with. I have some involvement with countries who don't have EU trade deals, and we get along fine.

Worst thing for the UK = readier market unfettered market access would have been better; but in a year or two, once people / businesses are used to things, it won't seem much of an issue.

Best thing for the UK = that sovereignty has been re-established, and recognised, unambiguously, by the EU - if I had been them I'd have sought some sort of qualified recognition instead. (I'm minded of Hilary Benn and Gina Miller's 'victory' in establishing that Parliament was Sovereign...)

Overall, I'd give it a wee bit over 7 out of 10, your score?

Gosh.... sovereignty reestablished. The good loyal unionist peoples of Ulster, might well beg to differ.
EU office staffed with EU officials in Belfast, observing on behalf of the EU, trade between UK mainland and NI.

One other point, aside from economic points, and aside from so called sovereignty.
Withdrawal from Erasmus, is just a cheap mean spirited swipe at all the young people of Britain.

The fact you are so upset can only be a good thing. We haven't seen the full detail of the deal yet so I am moderately positive. But we'll see. A few years ago you were sneering and saying we would never get anywhere near this point.

My dear, dear fellow you have me mixed up with someone else. I’ve been telling you all along, you would leave with a deal, despite all the nonsense about no deal. Boris did as I expected and U turned.

It doesn't look like he did though. We'll have to wait for the detail but on the surface it looks like most people who voted leave might be quite satisfied.

The withdrawal from Erasmus is exactly as you say. The "Turing scheme" as Boris called it is going to cost 100 million to set up and run ( Dido Harding needing a job?) and will replicate the Erasmus scheme + Oz and the US.
Just what you can already do.
The loss of Erasmus will never affect wealthy kids, just smart clever working and middle class kids.

You've been telling everybody he would do a U turn you seem to have convinced yourself he has. The trouble is nobody believes you, at the most he moved a little which had to happen if we were to get a deal. I think you need to forget this obsession with U turns and just take some satisfaction that we are leaving on good terms. It's Christmas and we have a lot to face from the virus afterwards so how about forgetting about point scoring and spread a little goodwill for a day or two.

The Irish government has stepped in where Boris stepped out, and will facilitate Erasmus and the European health care system for ALL NI citizens.
That’s now on top of ROI ambulance service stepping in to the Covid fight in NI, where Boris has failed to deliver.
Yeah, it’s a very sovereign feeling up there in that corner of Britain right now...
