Dealer Open Day

Talk to people! Some folk arnt inclined to walk in and start asking the sales team questions, it’s a fine line between giving them space and asking a simple “ is there anything I can help with “
I recall the Yorkshire show , we mooched around a tractor dealership stand and we’re completely ignored by three salmon cord wearing sales bods , they stood in a group knowing we were looking at a tractor, even the tractors doors were all locked so we moved on

I was given a bit of advise many years ago and have never forgotten it. If you want to strike up a conversation look at the tie they are wearing!! Granted it does not always work nowadays.!! It was when I worked for the NFU(Don't start!) and most people wore ties to meetings and gatherings. But it is always a friendly way of starting a conversation.

The only tie I wear thesedays is holding my trousers up, if a rep started looking there it might end badly, unless of course the rep was of the female variety

There's more than a few of us awkward buggers that can't eat wheat these days.
Have some gluten free rolls.
Obvs I won't be coming to your day, but I don't go to the open events locally simply because I can't stand and eat a hog roll, or bacon butty with my mates.

I agree with the bit about cliquieness. There is nothing worse than either being ignored while a gaggle of suited salesman stand around laughing at in-jokes, or else starting a conversation and in walks their best customer, so it is obvious that they are looking over your shoulder itching to go and have a chat with him instead of making awkward conversation with you. Even even worse actually is when beaming salesman introduces favourite customer while he is supposedly dealing with you with "Mr Fred, do you know Jeremy/ Clarence/ Tim, he farms (12000 acres) over at Snoddington", then you are sidelined out of the conversation while they chat about Range Rovers and their shooting exploits. At this point, you just wander off without anyone noticing.

Thing is some ring piece takes them all and fills a bag. Same with pens etc.

Remember last time I was at lamma seeing people taking handfuls of pens and chucking them in there goody bag.

Decency seems to be a thing of the past.
sorry about that i will take em back next year...

thought kids would like a handful of john Deere pens but there really not that bothered...

They are already booked! 👍
I only eat bacon if its grilled and has to be on Organic Sourdough Bread
But that brings me back to a memorable moment at Aberystwyth show in the 70ts , dad was looking at a New Massey
John Willis looked him in the eye and said "I will die of shock if you buy that" , we did not qualify for a bacon butty 😂

The doe show is a bit extreme for a model , but local dealer has an open evening, showcasing the products they are an agency for , but also does offers on demo / shop soiled and trade in equip as discounted prices .

that way you attract all walks of farmers . make people think they have got a bargin !

Never been at a open day where prices were marked on the stuff
Doe show next week down here in sunny Essex.

I will probably go along and take the staff as the price is on virtually every machine and it makes my chaps appreciate that we can't have new kit all the time.

Prices on the machines are a saving grace there. Salesmen like hens teeth - admittedly there are usually lots of customers.

Very difficult to buy anything even if you wanted.

Discounts on the day too.

A tent full of old stock at bargain prices is very popular.
