Death Throws of No Deal

Which kind of is the point, supply and demand are king in this day and age, if there is a demand for more beef in the UK they will find a way to import it from somewhere, the same applies to any product exported/imported to/from any country in the world.
Trade deals are a way of keeping lots of beaureaucrats and civil servants in jobs and making politicians feel good about themselves. The real people doing the trading are the businesses of the country who will always find a way.

clearly you don't understand trade deals then

and what would that point be ?
The developed world is growing larger rapidly and sources of both supply and demand are increasing. Tariffs are manipulative artificial trade barriers though they are not the only ones, some justifiable but many not so. Increasingly tariffs present an opportunity for reprisal and conflict but the modern world is presenting many more opportunities to circumnavigate restrictions on free trade. Obstructionist policies are increasingly likely to backfire, opening up new markets, new arrangements and new opportunities. The great world economic powers are losing their grip and the more they load tariffs the more this will apply.

but if we don't have a trade deal with the EU then we will be paying WTO tariffs on imports and exports, and there will be added red tape (increasing costs), and why would we not want a trade deal with some of the richest countries in the world

A simple example. If the EU do not want tariff free trade on an equal basis we shop elsewhere. We currently import salads from Spain but we can buy these from rapidly developing countries in North Africa. Why make life difficult?

but we don't currently have a trade deal with N.Africa so we still be paying WTO tariffs on the import from N.Africa same as the tariffs from the spain

and what happens when the ones in N.Africa sell us a load of salads full of cancer causing chemicals as they can use chemicals that we have banned

North Africa is not a country nor a restrictive trading block. If we monitor production and are not happy we take it or leave it. How much Chinese crap finds its way into the EU and is distributed with a CE mark? Don`t deny, it is plentiful. Buyer beware but don`t rely on the bureaucrats to look after you. If you have a reliable supplier you can cultivate a platform of trust which does not depend on halfwits in ivory towers.

Quite agree, however that was not the question. @Werzle stated that "We are heading for no deal and that's what we wanted all along" I am intrigued as to why anyone, particularly a country with the exporting past of the UK, would not want a trade deal.
We had no deal four years ago and thanks to snowflakes and interferers like May we still have no deal. WTF have we been wasting our time for? Just to appease the remoaners.

Free Trade Deals reduce the amount of bureaucracy and red tape making it far easier for the real people doing the trading to get on with it.

Agreed but why a deal if free trade is the norm. It is between buyers and sellers , not jumped up manipulators trying to cream of a percentage to justify their existence.

Agree with the above. Why then do you want No Deal? FTAs remove the need for tariffs.
