Depositing cheques with a phone .

Done it loads , the app doesn’t like cheques that have been altered by who ever wrote it . That’s the only problem I’ve come across. As others have said they clear in a day or so.

Only downside with this new bank cheque imagine system (where the bank sends images of the cheque to the paying bank, not the physical piece of paper) is if the imaging goes wrong.

Had a cheque a month or so back that appeared to bounce. Letter turned up in post a few days later explaining it was due to poor imaging and showed a bad pic of the cheque. Bank letter told me to ask the cheque writer to issue another cheque....even tho it was the banks fault for not getting a clear image of the physical cheque before destroying it.

Oh yes there is, getting money to the taxman without him having any connection to your bank account is one!

Not sure that’s a good reason - I bank transfer to HMRC and that makes them no more likely or able to access my account than sending a cheque would


Cheques are just excuses for people to delay payment

I don't trust the feckers one inch over here, every government dept seems to want to get their grubby mitts on your bank details and mob number.
