Deutz 913 engine re-build.

Location
Suffolk
I have an elderly four cylinder Deutz tractor and the engine is getting old. It still starts, runs well but has done near on 8,000 hours so I think it is time to give it some love.
Any advice willingly accepted, and no thank yoo I don't want any other tractor.
I have had two Ford County tractors rebuilt in the past so am familiar with the work involved. One was a nut and bolt restoration for work not showing mind.
I am looking to have the engine taken out of the machine. Rebuilt and a new wedding cake clutch put on and it re-fitted with a sensible warranty. Under-cover space on smooth concrete. East Anglia area.
Thanks.

I had a 6cyl rebuilt by a supposed expert in Leeds, I am doubtful if he actually changed the oil pump as agreed (£1000 odd) as oil pressure is a bit low at idle. Always been a bit smokey too, pump was done too by his man??? More money! Close to 5k if I remember for whole job. When he fitted the sump that I had left kicking about in my workshop for months, he never cleaned it out at all, so a good 1/4 inch of oil/grit and hen feathers were ready to go through a brand new engine!! Lucky I took it off first before I started it. In short, most mechanics are filthy animals that have no business touching anything precision that must be assembled immaculate (there will be some exceptions, but I’ve not seen one yet!) the next deutz engine needing overhauled I sent back to deutz uk after they sent me a replacement. About £4k for a 3cyl roller engine and worth it for warranty and least hassle.
what is wrong with your 8000 hour engine? Should manage a few more hours than that unless overheated?

If it aint broke, don't touch the fuucken thing. Not at 8,000 hours anyway.

Sorry, I'm not much help.

Remove all the covers, fan cowling etc that you can get at around the engine and give it a proper pressure wash blast to spotlessly clean around all the fins, check valve clearance, and replace rocker gaskets. Drop the oil and change it, fit new belt and fan bearing and get it on a dyno for an hour increasing the load steadily. If you want, fit an oil pressure gauge for the dyno part. If all is sweet after an hour give it a lot more and get it slogging for a few minutes. It won’t be the same tractor!!
