Specifically, what makes one 86hp and the other 78? and is the difference really noticable?

I really can't remember if they had bigger lift rams, bigger wheels and tyres, etc etc etcIs it really as simple as that Drdunc?? What a bonus!! Wonder what the difference in dealer price was for the same spec 2850 and 2650?
Both 26 and 2850 are turbocharged.I always thought that the 28 was turboed, and always more than 90 hp. Like a ford 8340 was 125 hp but never found 1 under 135 hp.
That might explain why my 2850 (no assistor rams btw) pulls so well - some pretty big hills round here and I hardly ever have to come out of top gear or drop down on the splitter...I do know that it is very simple to open the pump on them. There wasn't a 4 cylinder anywhere round here that left the dealer with less than 100hp
Dyno???That might explain why my 2850 (no assistor rams btw) pulls so well - some pretty big hills round here and I hardly ever have to come out of top gear or drop down on the splitter...
I take it they were adjusted on a dyno then?
ive got a 36 and a 33 there’s quite a lot of differences, the assister rams are bigger the hydraulic pump is higher capacity, the engine side plates are ribbed on the back and pick up on another bolt too, the air intake system is bigger diameter, the front axle is a different model, I’m sure there must be more but that’s just what I’ve come accros while working on them, there both 40k but the 36 is slowerNot the model we are talking about but, I was once told the 3650 had slightly thicker castings in the back end compared to the 3350/3050. Sometimes there are more differences than you can see....
