Discovered a tunnel into a 17th century house

We had a similar set of tunnels around our farm. I’ve not been in them but my old man has. I think it was to do with religious persecution that they used them to stay under the radar. They go to another monastery I think as there was one on our farm listed in the dooms day book. Can’t remember all the details an someone will know more about the history than me. But they had little holes in the walls of the tunnels for candle holders. Major operation to have dug them all out.

Is it a dead end where the tunnel ends or possibly caved in/ forced in? Anywhere near a river? Assume the dead end is at the end away from the house? Or does it stop 20 feet from the house? It'd be very interesting too look into it further.

Where my hole is is the end of the tunnel, we are staring into a dark tunnel towards the house, we can see a good 6 metres until it’s to dark. I’ve got loads of videos of the tunnel on my phone, next time I’m in the office il edit it and put it on here

There's the remains of a tunnel from what was my grandfathers very old farmhouse to a neighbouring very old farmhouse about a mile away, I think it was to do with the Civil war period from family tales, obviously mostly collapsed now, but I wonder if ts a similar tunnel?

Give Derrick akora a ring or what ever he is called

You might find something in there you wish you hadn't
Or
There might be something in there just waiting to be discovered.

Curiosity killed the cat

Just take an extra pair of boxers tomorrow you've got to have a look in now

Mill lade from a pond to a water wheel?
Got one running under the back of the house here, 150m end to end.

Stick the GoPro on your dog and chuck a bone into the tunnel.
Or see if you can get a drone on there.....

I'd do the bit of string around the waist trick, then if it collapses at least someone knows where to dig !
