I've never known anyone who's successfully done one, sealing the rubber boot afterwards is the issue. It's crimped in the factory and Once stretched to get off never goes back right.
The worse one I saw was the boot flung out caught the handbrake release cable, ripped that out and damaged the fuel tank!
I got one years ago and when I got shaft off the rear uj was tight so just got a whole new shaft. I sent the bearing back, looking at the shaft I messed about with the boot and did not think I would be able to reseal it correctly.
island 4x4 were always cheapest got genuine gkn one last time but this time they had gone up a fair bit(my 2016 one has failed rubber worn out they put it down to loads of towing?) not just them everywhere gone up so got a breamach one this time, reviews were good will see how it goes I noticed rear bearing was not great on one I took off either fairly tight and only 50k?
others I did were 110k and 140k but both came with no towbar prior to my ownership so obviously did none before I owned them.
think of the labour saving too it’s a quick job to swap whole shaft!!

Stuck one of those on dad's last spring . So far been fine. 2 year warranty might be hopeless but thought it was worth a go . Sure it was 100quid a year ago
