Not condoning bullying of anybody but better on the till in tescos then if it doesnt suit her, that wont pay quite so well per hour mind you.

i felt bullied by all them organisations btw but i wont tolerate them nowadays ,they dont get any of my hard earned wage's. or the wifes.
No inspector should have to put up with the way HFD treated that inspector

Just like no farmer should put up with an inspector who is just on a power trip ( but it certainly sounds from his many versions of what happened that this was certainly not the case with this inspector )

If HFD does not want the inspector on the farm then simply leave the RT scheme and that would solve the stress the inspections cause him.

Yep i totally agree, the problem is further up the line and not the inspector.

Thou of course you get the odd bad inspector who is on a power trip but if that happens just be polite ask them to leave and call their office to explain why and ask to be sent a new inspector.

HFD cattle went off on one at one point because she asked this simple question: Where is your disinfectant? that is just a bog standard question they ask at every inspection!

However when the head of red Tractor doesn't bother going to farming shows, then who else is there to have a pop at? Sending them a strongly worded email doesn't seem to work.

Tim Ryecroft from AHDB was at Croptec. Jim Mosely was nowhere to be seen.

AHDB at least need to respect for facing up in person.

AHDB are worse than RT ( and that is saying something )

AHDB are the ones that have used levy payers money to push the government into banning the spreading in the autumn of farm muck/ slurry..

But at least you can speak to them at events and have your say. Red Tractor just hide away. So they most certainly aren't worse in my view. But i'm on the outside now.

AHDB are very good at letting you have your say and telling you what you want to hear but as soon as you have gone on your way they just take your comments and chuck them in the bin and carry on like they intended to do so in the first place!

Subs are going and costs need to be cut hard and two organizations that need to be shut down and chucked in the bin is the AHDB and RT company!

Rapid change it not one of their skills. I'll admit that. I'm 7 years in to getting them to promote better what they do, so they can better judge what farmers need from them. Not got far to date. But new crop of staff have come in and are listening. I'm in my 3rd iteration of the Matrix, so far.

Did you not read the posts yesterday about the way HFD treated his RT inspector?? who did nothing wrong other than to turn up for an agreed inspection and as soon as they got out of the car he laid straight into them and before long had reduced the inspector to tears!

How can they enforce the scheme rules when farmers that are in the scheme are behaving like this?

( and i have no time for RT or the inspectors but what he did to the RT inspector amounted to nothing more than bullying and was done to prevent them from carrying out the inspection )
Not seen it, do you have a link?

I have been at meeting after meeting going back 6/8 years and at every one they promised to listen to levy payers and make the changes they want to see, they have been given many ideas and promised they would make them happen..

To date 6/8 years later how many changes have they made?? yep you guessed it... ZERO

I have no time for red tractor whatsoever but to treat inspectors badly is very poor form. If anything from my experience they make it a much easier process than it could be.

That is the general intent of the media. Title says it all.

That said, it looks even worse when a TV show unearths these below standard practices, not the body designed and funded to do it. If Red Tractor are going to complain they weren't told about the problems when the filming was originally done, it's even more embarrassing and makes a mockery of having a scheme all together. They should be the one's finding the problems and making sure standards are met.

It's going to be another bad night for the farming industry imo.
But the OP stated it not good for RT no mention of the whole livestock industry.

Be careful what you wish for!

Rob Clayton didn't show up at BP2021 and face the music for the monumental hash that his management made of the potato vote though, did he?

It's more a problem of what the NFU Council wish for. They seem to control what happens regardless of what the county chairs or even the vice presidents think. Frankly the whole thing is embarrassing for farming. We are all tainted by this.

No doubt Red Tractor will spin this nicely though.

Thread is called : Are you joining me.

In the livestock section i think.

( His comments are on the last 1/3 pages so no need to wade all the way thru the thread )
Seems to me that HFD did what I should have done to the little hitler who turned up here a couple of years ago.

he rung me to come last year and wasn’t best pleased when I said he was banned as his attitude stunk.

My take will be the conclusion will be

  • Intensive farming = factory farming = bad for welfare
  • Terrible film footage whilst being farm assured
  • RT has no teeth and Gov / retailers need to insist on something with teeth
  • No account taken on easy import of white meat with no welfare assurance
The Gov have the current welfare laws etc that are enforced by trading standards/ Animal health officers/ vets etc.

If the Gov want higher welfare for animals then they need to start with banning the imports of meat from country's with far worse animal welfare standards than the UK.
