Do I need planning permission?

Good morning, as title says do I need planning permission to pull out 300m of hedge/ trees to be able to get to a ditch to clean it out? It is not possible to clean it from the neighbors side and I’m not sure they’ll like the trees/ hedge being pulled out as it is acting as screening on there field/yard. Probably only 100m of hedge the rest is mature 30ft trees I could possibly leave a few trees as I could work around them.

As said, snip it off at the base, clean. It will regrow. Take photos for the haters.
Would it not be better to lay the hedge then you could clean the ditch out over the layed hedge.
i don’t think I could reach the ditch as where the hedge is the bank is too wide, it’s not a straight ditch so some places the ditch is 5m away from the field side.

Yes I shall cal it what ever I need to to get the job done.

There's a big difference between grubbing 300m of hedge out and coppicing it, its the difference between having a £20k fine or not............also bear in mind if there are mature trees they fall under forestry rules so felling anything more than 5 cubic metres in a calendar quarter requires a felling licence.

Best bet (apart from arranging to access the ditch from your neighbours side) is to leave the mature trees and coppice everything else low enough you can reach over with an excavator.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
