Do you care about climate change?

How do you know ? Who pays them ? He who pays the piper calls the tune , personally I think they have no clue .
Believe what you like, but remember that there are plenty of interested parties trying to muddy the waters and confuse the message.

The tobacco industry springs to mind; and the oil industry can afford some very expensive pipers.

The scientists seem to have a pretty good idea.
But some scientists seem to disagree with each other’s , theories, statistics etc etc, on all subjects including ( off topic Covid19)
I suppose one is slanted in one’s views by their consensus of opinion.
But I am slightly of the opinion “ ignorance is bliss to those that know, no, difference” .The main reason I very rarely watch or hear the “News”.
Make of me what you will ;)

For all the good intentions my fear is that the solutions proposed & being put in place make the West so much poorer & our so called dodgy "enemies" so much stronger, this unfortunately on a global scale will not be achieving much of an improvement in global warming.
At what point do we say there has to be a better way & start to bring manufacturing back closer to the customers!

Point me to a scientific prediction about climate that has been proved correct by actual events. We have had over 50 years now of lurid predictions of climate calamity (from 'We're all going to Freeze' in the 60s and 70s to the ' We're all going to fry!' from the late 80s onward) and not one of the ones that had a date attached that is now past has turned out to be correct.

So when a body of 'scientists' (aka political activists) that has a history of making failed predictions continues to predict catastrophe, why should we believe them? How many more failed predictions do you need to realise its all nonsense?

Sorry I've had to repost this because I had a double negative in the original:

It's more a question of who you believe and why. I would much rather believe that climate change isn't happening and carry on consuming, burning and wasting. That I believe is a simplistic approach.

There's either 9 billion people alive or shortly will be. Nearly every one of them burns fuel and exhales co2. Whatever else, that alone can't really be sustainable.

Governments / World leaders believe that Climate Change is happening because the majority of Scientists believe it is happening. That doesn’t mean they all do.

The problem arises when any Scientific research organisation or University applies for any funding. There is virtually no chance in getting it unless they add words to the effect “and how it effects Climate Change” at the end of it.

This deliberately sways any outcome before they even start!
It means that a Scientific question has already been outweighed by a Political opinion.

In effect, to get any funding whatsoever, any Scientist is going to have to agree that there is a Climate Change problem, or he won’t get funding at all.

How many of those who don’t think or believe the problem is as serious as we are lead to believe are there going to be left?
Very few.
Which means that the majority gets even bigger!

Even worse:
Setting targets and aiming to reduce CO2 by certain dates is one thing.
When they are in reality impossible to achieve, makes a complete mockery of it all!

You have 'belief' that something is wrong. Not evidence and proof, just belief. Thats religion territory............
No, I happen to think that the science is hard evidence. There is always someone who says the scientists are wrong. Some people choose to believe that despite overwhelming scientific evidence.

One of the reasons it is taking so long to catch on is that the human race is happily living in the moment with its head in the sand about the future; another reason is that so much tax revenue is levied on energy that it's difficult for governments to wean themselves from such easy money.

Just because there might be a scientific concensus about something it doesn't mean that that concensus is correct. Scientific concensus constantly gets overturned. Indeed student doctors reputedly are/were told on their first day of lectures that 50% of what they learn at medical college will turn out to be wrong. The trouble is they don't know which 50%.
