A nice little job advert in this weeks FG..........

AHDB are creating a new post for a : Head of Technical Communications.

For a wage of £65,000 a year you basically have to work with the current leadership team for communications to develop Internal communications at the AHDB to inform AHDB staff about the work ( or rather lack of  ) that the AHDB do..

What a complete waste of levy payers money!

They actually need more of these people if you want them to be more effective

I’m encouraged by the description that’s stated “digital first’

.... long overdue and I look forward to meeting the successful candidate ! I have been telling them for years that they are missing someone in this role ........... when will the NFU advertise the same role within their organisation I wonder !

And outside of a farm gate the salary is nothing special these days, I would apply but I would want x3 that salary !

no maybe not but get a few that are getting that sort of wage and above and it makes a fair hole, I am not saying they shouldn't get it but would want them to earn the money

If you want good people you have to pay for them

This is an area where people who know what they are doing can earn big wages

But I agree they need to be effective to earn it

not just pay for a name
I wouldn't know but suspect that some very good people work for the AHDB and earn what they get and also I dare say there will be the hangers on
I don't agree that the ones that command the most money will be the best

Sounds like the are moving with the times. I'm not sure quite how this is different to the £2m Knowledge transfer division - but something we have been banging the drum about for a while. The AHDB do so much good stuff, but don't tell anyone about it.

I might apply - job is to basically stick everything on TFF and Social media - job done!

Why not give it a go, lay out your case for improving things and get the job. 65k is more than you’d need to pay a farm worker while you’re gone, although if it’s for “doing nothing” you can still run the farm[emoji106]
Go for it and be known as the bloke that fixed UK Ag.

I sincerely hope they find a better candidate than a bloke who posts a bit on TFF or it would be 65k fro nothing !

That’s a bit of a sh!tty comment...you don’t know what his capabilities are outside of here

well if i'm unaware of GUTH's other existing high flying and successful conms team career I apologize unreservedly

however as far as i'm aware he's a farmer ?

my point being a job like this needs someone REALLY good with a proven track record of success in such a specialist area, I will be disappointed if they waste 65k of our levy on anything less

the real point is that someone will get the job but in 5 yrs time nothing much will have improved/changed....go back 5 years i bet ahdb were spouting platitudes then...all these 'communication crap types' do is talk to each other

The communication world has changed dramatically in 5 years
I wouldn't have believed you if you had told me 5 years ago that almost 40% of my new customers would come from social media ---but that's the way it is now
