Does Tim Leunig still think farmers are not needed????

About time Tim Leunig had the guts to say he was wrong and that this crisis proves farmers are desperately needed.
Not a hope in hell of Leunig admitting he was wrong but why isn’t the NFU making him look an idiot which he truly is.
Also this crisis should serve as a poke in the eye to Packham and Monbiot who are also always criticising farmers.
Great to have the Uk as a big playground in times of cheap food from abroad BUT in times of worldwide lockdown, as we are approaching ,Packham and Monbiot would have starvation of society on their hands if Governments ever followed their idealistic view of the countryside, god help us all in the uk :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well I went back a fortnight on his Twitter account and he doesn't seem to acknowledge he may have got it wrong

I stopped at 22 Feb when he retweeted something about the log burner regs he was instrumental in when at DEFRA

Oh they'll say that "lessons have been learnt" but will then carry on as if nothing as happened. There may be some alteration to NHS preparedness but that'll be about it. They'll be too busy concentrating on the economy to care about food supply. And why would they? Food isn't actually running short in spite of lots of us hoping it will to teach the politicians a lesson.

In the short term there may be a boost to prices if global supply and production suffers further disruption. The government's solution will focus on building resilience into global supply chains, not home food production

I will reserve judgment till things are back to the new normal.
I do hope we will all be alive to see the new normal, and that we don’t have to eat humble pie re the above posts.
Good luck and good health to all .???

I dont think the facts support your assertions on privately owned companies, in my experience they are equally good at the muppet shuffle and golden handshakes so as not to negatively impact their share price/reputation.
