Mrs JJT is looking at a GPS trackers. She's looking at Tractive and PitPat. A quick search on here would suggest a few on here have tractive. The advantage of the PitPat is it's just a one off payment with no monthly subscription - 26month breakeven over tractive. Anyone got any comments on either or any others to look at?

Mrs JJT is favouring PitPat as no monthly subscription but I'm leaning more to the tractive as it has geofencing and if the pitpat breaks in less than 2 years your no better off.

What are those Apple pod things that contain a GPS signal? Might be worth looking at one of those?

I stopped using Tractive as it looses signal underground and in woodland, which is typically where my daft dog was missing most of the time
So it wasn’t much good to me, occasionally I found her when out in open ground but not often
Luckily she’s a bit older now and calmed down a bit !!

You could always train the dog. Make 'out there' an unsafe place to be when the whistle blows and back with dad/mum a place of joys. Your imagination is the limiting factor. Start at age about 3 months and deliberately "lose" them (where there are no distractions) and get them seriously worried. Make the dog find you. Yes, I know about the problems, but it can be done.

We tried a pitpat last year, it could never seem to make contact with either the satellites or mobile phone signal, they replaced it but the new one was just as useless, i sent them photos and screen shots of it within sight of the phone mast and with a clear view of the sky and the app saying it couldn't connect so they refunded our money.
