Don’t tell me I now need a new computer

Yes. Anything running Win 7 won’t be supported so those sites don’t like it due to security reasons.
Cheaper and easier to get a new computer although I believe you can still download Win 10 for free

Just a small point. If you go down the new route and need Office, Office 365 is literally that - have to buy a new licence annually if you want to keep upgraded

Office 97 still does what we need! However we have moved to Libre Office in the main

I noticed a warning logging into cts last week that win 7 won’t work with them soon. I expect it’s because Microsoft are no longer supporting windows 7 so it could make cts susceptible if the government continue to accept people using it.

There is a thread on TFF about the free upgrade to win 10. I’ve not tried it yet but it should still work.

Yes it can, though you may need to buy a licence for same depending on what OS you currently run or intend to install it on the new PC.

You can still buy the full package (eg Office 2018 Home & Small Office) - unless you specifically need Cloud based Office connectivity across multiple devices.

Also cant access your Maps or BPS form with old operating systems.

I have had to buy a new computer to look at maps RPA have an issue with.
It's been like this since November but nothing from RPA to warn of this. I can see lots of people having issues and a panic when the claim window opens!!

My point was that I bought a new computer at Curry’s recently as needed a new one in any case and they tried to sell me Office 365 for £70 or so but it’s only an annual licence.
A “forever licence” was £95 but didn’t have One Note

I have a office 365 subscription which I think is about £60 a year. For that I have a number of machines with the software. Including my office machine with iPad and phone linked. Both my children have it on their computers, my mum also has it as well as my sister in law. So 5 of us for £12 a year each I don’t think that’s bad. Everyone has their own account so no getting it all mixed up.

I appreciate not everyone can find a number of users but it does work well for me.

i cant get in to my rural payments account using my laptop any longer, luckily I can get in using my phone, but that'll be rubbish for doing applications

whats the minimum spec needed for a new laptop just to do rural payments, cts, hmrc and banking accounts etc?
