A lot of heavy rain here this afternoon. With what we’re expecting tomorrow I think I can say the drought will be over by Monday morning!

A friend who didn’t want me to Combine his wheat yesterday because the straw would get wet might realise my ethos at last, being:

NEVER put of till tomorrow what can be done today, because things can change and usually do.

I doubt he will see any of his wheat below 13% that could be mixed in with the wet stuff to keep his drier mothballed this season,

The forecast after tomorrow is back to being hot is it not?

My forecast says certainly not as hot or sunny. Rather dull till Thursday in fact.

That could also change. It certainly has since a week ago. Which is my point.
Don’t waste Combining days because things/ forecasts can change and often do.

Christ knows how many thousands of £s worth of Combine stood in a shed, all because he didn’t want to turn his straw if it got rained on!

if it is dry for the next 2 weeks waiting an extra day to get dry straw will be the lowest cost option
having a day or twos rest will also improve productivity that will get the day back in the next 7 days

taking sensible breaks never reduced the acres of work done in a week here
when you are tired with any machine it is very easy to settle at 6 km per hour instead of 8km

How's it looking over in Sweeden now @Acke ? I understand you've had a bad drought- worse than us and crops and livestock have been affected. How's do you think your harvest will be compared to an average year?

Here we have 3,5 ton/ha of winterwheat compare to 7,5 normal years. Springcrops looks ok , not sure what it yields? 60-80% hopefully? Silage is a 40% of first cut.
30% of second cut , no 3 rd in sight.

Had very little here, watched the showers go round us on Saturday then it did little more than damp on and off yesterday and a bit this morning. Enough to stop the combine but not to do any good.
