Does anyone use them.my o2 phone is ok most of time but other times I get no signal and people can’t contact me.this is despite being 3 miles from the mast which I can see from most of farm.thinking about a dual sim phone and have an EE or vodaphone sim in aswell and obviously another number.do you have to select which number you want to call from before dialling.are they a pain or ok.must be better for callers to have the option too.would I have to add another set of contacts to another SIM card or would current contacts still work.anyadvice appreciated.id go pay as you go if I do this as my o2 is sim only contract.

I ran a dual SIM xiaomi.

You had to select which number to call text from but really wasn't the end of the world.

You could decide which SIM used data etc.

You could switch a SIM off from the phone menu.

All contacts were stored central on the phone so no problem using current contacts.

It's a good idea👍

I had a Motorola moto g dual SIM because I was always struggling for signal. You could set it to use one sim by default and use the other if needed or choose when you dial out. Ee mast got put up covering here now so just single now. Most dual sim phones are imports, loads of new ones on eBay

Great things , had one for years .
Personal phone on one sim and work phone on other and only one phone to carry.
Choose the SIM card port you want to be your primary phone and the other as your secondary .
Can choose two ring tones to determine whether a personal or work call coming in .
Two message tones .
Can choose which sim to use to ring out .
Emails everything you need.
I have a Rugear RG600 IP68 tough phone .
Got it through “The Phone Trader” they do all kinds of deals and tarrifs.
Had it for years bomb proof smart phone With dual sim.

I've got a OnePlus 7T. It runs pretty much lure Android and was a revelation after an iPhone.

It's quite clever - you set you default Sims for data, messaging and calls and then it asks you the first time you dial which SIM to use, then remembers that. It will automatically dial out on the same SIM that a call has come in on and same with messages.

An excellent way to have work and personal together but separate. I can also turn off one of the Sims it I want a holiday away from work.

I use a Samsung j5, duel SIM, bought off eBay new. Just make sure it's a unlocked phone, then it will take any SIM, I use pay and go. O2 as main SIM and 1p mobile (ee) as backup. Costs about £40 a year to run both Sims, phone was about £110 ex vat. Makes phone contracts look very expensive.

I think Vodafone and O2 run off the same network so you'd be better going for the ee second sim

Is it possible to get two sims on the same number with any company
Used to be able to, it’s not possible now, I think it’s illegal

I have a Nokia 3310 dual sim with EE sim only, £7 per month unlimited minutes with a giff gaff payg sim, the EE sim diverts to the gg sim if unavailable,

EE BT run off the same mast O2 and Tesco run off the same masts, Vodafone Giff gaff run off the same masts

Edit giff gaff run off O2

I’m on o2 and often don’t get a signal indoors despite mast 3 miles away.checking coverage checker on all networks it seems Vodafone is the best by a mile for me

I have a Huawei P30 Pro dual sim & it is great, one sim for personal stuff & the other is for business stuff. All the contacts are stored together in my Google account, so to avoid any confusion I prefix work contacts with "Work", that way if my phone rings it is obvious & I can decide whether to answer or not. When making calls or sending texts I have the option to select which sim to use.

A useful feature is AppClone, which allows me to run apps like WhatsApp twice - i.e. an instance linked to each sim. Easy to setup & then just have two icons on my home screen.
