Ear Tag marker pen

Hi all, I'm after a marker pen that wont rub off to use on cattle ear tags, any ideas?

need to buy a tag marker pen from agric store other pens do not last even if they say permanent

Shearwell pens now tend to be very permanent. I'm not sure if they do any other colour other than black.

But I think you should shake them each time you use them.

We use those on the sow tags, usually write over each number again when it is dried, it doesn't come off even when the sow is quite elderly.

Permanent Marker only lasts about a month, the proper pens melt into the plastic and leave a raised line too.

As @Pan mixer said, write over the number a second time when dry and they are legible years later. We use Allflex pens , Angus.

Always use a proper tag marker pen (got Allflex and Zeetag on the go atm) here. And as has been said before go over it twice, after a couple of months you can tell which you didn't do twice. Tried doing 1 or 2 with a Sharpie once, soon disappeared!

I have a couple of shearwell pens, when you look under the shearwell label it says allflex......

Thanks all, I'll probably buy an Alex/shearwell marker then whichever is cheaper! Was just wondering if there was anything that does actually work as where I relief milk they needed up buying a 3d laser machine to etch onto the tags because the sharpie rubbed off on calves after 2 weeks but it takes around 3 hours per tag...
