Early start to calving

4.00pm today I find a calf pottering about the yard, no calving pen ready,nothing ready at all(quite normal actually) perplexing thing is it's 5-6 weeks early according to my normally reliable calving record and diary. Its full term and a nice heifer out of a good cow. I think there will need to be sire verification.

Well we need at least a picture and hopefully some guesses as to how this happened/advice as to how it :-
a) can be avoided
b) can be easily achieved on our own farms

As my scanner said to me about a ewe he marked as early ....when I said how the f.. did that happen “sex” was his instant reply
