Is planning permission necessary to build an earth walled pit?
Yes and if it grant added it will normally be asked for. also if in Scotland SEPA approval and building warrants will also be required. This isn't to bad really just a set of drawings and engineers certification. There is a bit of cost involved in it but it depends on the size and build cost of the clamp. If you would like an idea of costs let me know.
Still allowed in Scotland I think. We built one 4 years ago. The quotes with a grant were still more expensive than doing it ourselves, by which I mean us buying the materials then getting various tradesmen to lay the concrete and block walls. Hired in a digger for a week for the earth bank and hauled the rock ourselves.
Earth bank clamps are allowed in Scotland. They are also allowed in England but you have to collect the effluent below the banks and to do this it normally makes it uneconomical.
