We have a sumo versa drill to and it’s been a bit of a pain too, normally when your on light or cultivated land and press where snapping off! I found that the discs were stalling as the coulters were set too tight to the disc. It also sound like you might have the coulters a bit low on the disc. I think ours are set at about 25mm to allow the disc to bite.

So we lifted the coulters up to 30mm and set the discs in on notch 3 on the depth and it seems ok. Seed depth is only really about an inch if that. Had to press the front right down on the link arms but seems like it’s blowing seed out the coulters and not all of it landing in the slot so some seed lies on top. Rather frustrating. But at least it isn’t blocking and driving with all the trash from the cover crop

Have a Sumo too, it seems it's important to set coulters correctly, had problems with it blocking, set the coulters 30mm above disc depth and just kissing the disc and never blocked again. Fitted homemade air defusers to pipes and it helped keep seed in the trench

Why 12m ?

I just can’t see the business case for 12m no till drill and the tractor size needed to pull it ........ not in the uk anyway, There are people doing 3-4K acres with a 4m

2x6m makes a lot more sense surely and be plenty of capacity for many, many thousands of acres ?
Clive you obviously changed your mind, how are you finding the penetration on the Avatar, slot closure compared to the 750a? Also is the depth adjustment as much as a pain as it looks in practice or nuts/bolts coming loose in the field. Also do you or anyone know whether Horsch provide that style disc with the option for a front attachment/discs if you wanted to make the drill more versatile. By this I mean direct drilling in the autumn and into sumoed ground in the spring? I want something that can drill direct in the Autumn but also into cultivated fields after winter.

You can drill into cultivated land with the avatar, the depth wheel is designed to work with light fluffy soils.
As for depth adjustment, it doesn’t actually take that long. Especially if you have the 12.25 machine as they are all easy access in one bar.

Yes I know the depth wheel will work, same as 750a but nothing to level/light surface cultivation of anything a bit rough cloddy. Maybe not an issue with rolling I suppose.

Depends on how you prepare the land for spring drilling. Have used an avatar into land just pulled up with a terrano and had great seed placement.
