EEC farm subsidies?

I’m not sure that they are more subsidised than the rest of the worlds farmers. Seems to be several above the EU (I don’t think we use EEC anymore)...

Which year was that graph printed?
Most of the “World Farm Subsidy Graphs” on the internet seem to have been published quite a few years ago.

Yeah, to be fair that was done by OECD in 2009, but I can’t imagine the EU has topped the charts in the intervening 9 years.

I may be wrong of course and, like all contributors to TFF subsidy based threads, I’m happy to be proved wrong! :cautious:

The boss was ranting on how much the Chinese get, why are they not on your graph?

Do you have any figures to add to “my graph”?

I have no doubt they are subsidised to the hilt, but since most of the Chinese middle class don’t trust Chinese food production systems, they probably need it... right?

You could reasonably ask '' what countries subsidise their:
Police force,
Fire service,
Road and rail
Education,
Health etc.

It doesn't seem unreasonable for a country to subsidise its food production, unless of course it's bust and can't afford to do so - like NZ.

You can add housing to that list too, £24 billion the UK government paid in 2014/15 in housing benefit subsidies.

and media (BBC) take a big cut
And all the people who control us are 100% subsidised - politicians, civil servants, judges, prison officers, environment agencies, VOSA, tax inspectors etc.
In fact, the private sector that pays all their wages and pensions doesn't get a look-in - just a severe reprimand every once in a while to keep us on our toes.

Are we in danger of being dragged into yet another subsidy thread?

I hope not.
Just interested to know how farmers are subsidised in other countries,ie are they just paid so much a ha to boost income, or are the payments based on certain environmental schemes on the farm etc etc. I appreciate difficult to answer so quite understand if you don’t(y)(y)
