A long time ago I knew a chap in Zim who's brother in law was the boss of a large food manufacturing plant in Harare. Said chap got very large amounts of egg-shells free of charge and used them on his lands, lime was relatively expensive there and then so it was a good thing for him.
From memory, he put them in a pan mixer with, I think, some tyres and then spread it as you would fert.. Tobacco likes slightly things slightly alkaline and his soil tended to be fairly acidic, his leaf looked good so I guess it works.
