Electricity Price Data / PPA Renewal

Hi, the market is in a good place at the minute, I own an energy consultancy and renewable energy company who manage both import and export energy negotiations on behalf of our direct client base, so we see the industry from both sides.

The electricity market took a sudden upturn in prices approximately 2 weeks ago, from an import point of view we’re seeing business suppliers offering contracts with 18p/kWh unit rates, which I haven’t seen for years. Inevitably this has had a positive effect on export prices also, pushing energy supplier margins when it comes to purchasing.

As ever though, the prices you receive from suppliers will not only depend on the overall market, but that particular suppliers current demand for renewable energy, which is why we always suggest exploring all of your options.

We work with approximately 15 energy suppliers and renewable organisations that purchase energy directly from us, to make sure all of our clients have as many options as physically possible laid out in front of them before they make a decision. If you'd like us to do the same for you using our contacts in the industry feel free to send me an email with any questions you have, and as much information as you can tell me about the renewable technology you own and the energy it exports, and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can, my email is [email protected]

Its becoming a real pain these contracts. I am presently looking at a prices from a large national supplier but from two different brokers.
Both brokers have the same data from us and the difference in prices over a 36 month contract from estimated usage is considerable yet its come from the same electricity supplier.

The most important thing is to make sure the proposals are being given to you on a level playing field and no caveats have been included in the small print, unfortunately this is rife in the industry, with some consultants making offers look more competitive on paper than in reality.

On the other hand, it may be the case that one broker simply has better contacts within that supplier, or is better at negotiating, suppliers often come in with poor first offers, and if one broker has pushed them on it and one hasn't the difference could be substantial.

One thing I will say however is that we find that agreeing PPA's with smaller energy suppliers, as opposed to "the big six" are often more lucrative.

Yes theres too many extra's such as MOP/DC/DA, KVA, TC blah blah blah. I just want to know the SC, Day rate and Night rate with all the other b******s included so I can see total cost over 3 years from previous usage figures.

Thanks to the above for coming back on this v helpful. I have now spoken to a chap called Jamie at New Stream Renewables who was pretty helpful. They have an online PPA portal so you can see pricing data etc... Market looking strong which is good news…

Not a problem, if you ever need any help or advice or anything you have my email address now, happy to help in any way that I can.

We offer PPA pricing the same as New Stream do, and you're right the market is very strong at the minute, so if you wanted to make sure you're getting the best possible rates you can email me the same details you entered in to their portal and I'd be happy to put a proposal together for you.

If not the above still stands, happy to help with anything either now or in the future, just drop me an email.

I have access to the New Stream market pricing portal which gives background to the wholesale markets and indications as to PPA pricing. Apparently each site is slightly different for embedded benefits and as such pricing so it needs to be on a bespoke basis rather than going through an online portal. Another thumbs up for Jamie.. seems like a stright shooter

He's right bespoke is always better, it allows for suppliers to take in to account their current demand for REGO's, if some have had a sudden influx of green energy customers from the import side REGO's will be worth more to them, leading them to justifiably outbid competitors for the PPA.
