I am still in dispute with them, largely on the principle that they totally disregarded my thoughts and feelings on the switch.
Bionic have said that if my current supplier objects to the switch it will not go ahead.
Switch due in August.
Ombudsman has been approached.
Also Bionic have offered to refund their arrangement fee.

Is this Bionic the same electricity broker that the TFA are pushing on their members?

From TFA publication:

"Energy prices have never been more unpredictable, so it’s important to lock in your rates to avoid potential future price rises. That is why the TFA has partnered with Bionic, the business energy experts, to save you time and hassle when sorting your next energy contract."

Good point. I think that is where I heard of them originally....perhaps it is time to have a word with the TFA.
Will call them tomorrow

On Half hourly here and I managed to get BG to talk about a downgrade to a standard meter. I have been trying for years but it was impossible apparently! All I did was moan that the SC was very high (£7 day). Salesman said you can do a downgrade it takes up to 12 weeks and it's £400 or even could be free. Current contract would then end and I was free to start a new one with the lower SC. Anyhow I had an email from the connections team saying that the downgrade is going ahead to a standard meter but I would have to run the contract length. Surely they can't go back on their word can they, as all calls are recorded?

Be wary of Bionic contracts, they have a DIFY (Do it for you) clause which if not careful you automatic agree to. They set up a new 3 year contract less than 4 months into my current contract when prices were sky high.

Having a barny with Bionic today. Last May they helped set me up with new much cheaper tariffs than we had previously. (95p per kwh with utility warehouse). New 1 yr contracts in May were approx 35p/kwh plus 57p standing chg, with BGlite (standard) (and EDF (standard with Offpeak, similar rates)). Such a huge improvement I didn't look too closely at details. It turns out that I also signed the 'Do it for You clause' (DIFY), which allows them to send a new quote for the next year, 5 months before you need it. This was attached to the contract document. It's all very slick, but they do slip in a mention of the commission they will earn - 7%, ("It won't affect what you pay, the supplier pays this"). They make it all seem very easy, but I suspect they earn the commission up front, so can collect it as soon as we sign up. The newest contracts for EDF today (to begin in June) are day rate 24.9p/kwh, 60p st chg, and off peak 26.3p/kwh, 53p st chg. Since when was off peak meant to be more expensive than daytime? Are these rates fair ? St Chg seems high. I have declined them, and have withdrawn from the DIFY service. Several people here have mentioned daily standing charges of more than £4, if true that is real leg lifting.
I had a look at H+H energy solution network as suggested (Cowabunga). Must confess they look a bit dodgy, a single director, only started in Jan 23 (companies house) The website has quite bad spelling/grammar and a dose of what looks like latin language! Not inviting confidence.

I agree. Nevertheless they broke what seemed like an unbreakable contract and offered a more competitive one.
However, I have yet to have a meter reading request on the new contract. I don’t have a smart meter because there is no mobile signal where the meter is.

Am optimistic because I’ve had a welcome letter from BG Lite with the new price per unit and standing charge on it.

Update. Only an hour later and I have had a meter reading request, not directly from BG-Lite but from H+H via WhatsApp. I’ve yet to understand how they have managed this and the structure of what they set up. I look forward to seeing whether the bill comes direct from BG Lite or via H+H.

Well done. Hopefully they will stop endorsing them!
Big up to the TFA.
Immediate response from them.
They will drop Bionic recommendations and send out warnings about their auto renewal system.
I have also been re assured that my TFA legal cover should cover the dispute if the ombudsman can't sort the issue.
TFA really do back their members:love:

I have raised the issue with the TFA regarding Bionic.
I am not the first to grumble about them and
their tactics apparently.
I nearly used bionic last year but their pushy salesman annoyed me so I didn't give him my mpan no, despite me blocking each number they rang on he kept hassling me until in the end I shouted down the phone as loud as I could "f**k off you c**t and don't ever call me again" I think he eventually got the message, a quick look at trust pilot shows they have a fairly good rating, but a lot of 1 star reviews all saying the same thing, scammers who con people, looking at the good reviews I would say a lot are fake. When I renewed this year I didn't use a broker, just phoned the companies direct.

Good advice, I will be more proactive. I am certainly less trusting now
