Got a quote from Valda it was 10% lower than existing which with the small amount the site in question uses not huge, but it was for 2 years.
Inclined to go existing chat and probably only do a year andsee what happens next year.

Is anyone with Valda or Yu energy?
These seem more competitive than British Gas lite but their reviews are not encouraging.
Renewal due next month will the prices drop anymore or best to lock in a contract now?

We moved to valda 9 months ago, been very good to deal with.

Managed to get Octopus to change my contract a couple of weeks ago . I had a 3 yr contract 50 p day 35 p night . 120p per day standing charge . ( agreed in late summer last yr when all quotes were 70 p plus for 1 yr) . I still have the extortionate standing charge but rates dropped to 34 p day 25 p night for 12 months .

Still looks bad compared with offers today but I was very glad to get out of that 3 year contract .

The standing charge is the least of my priorities though. The total price increases offered ranged from just under 91% to 118%. These include the standing charge of course. All for 12 month contracts and the same consumption.

Got a similar offer on the table, tempted to bite as have a contact on variable (fixed) term now and a big one up ending this autumn

I might regret it at some point but I’m signing up later this morning. I certainly won’t be signing for two years at this price. Might regret not doing that also, but who knows what the future holds.

how have u got on with octopus customer service,spoke to someone who even asked what i meant by standing charge,have spent hrs waiting to be connected on phone and no email replies for days

Just signed up one contract for 6 months on the following, with local machinery ring:

25.4p/kWh (24hr meter)
0.7p/kWh Climate Change Levy
59p/day SC
+ 2% levy

Better than any of the other suppliers that quoted directly.

Watt.Co.uk I warn you once they have your number they ring a lot! 01618338666 is the number I use, you’ll need your mpan etc to get a quote.
